  1.           Acute Viral Hepatitis (Infectious and Serum Hepatitis)
  2. SYMPTOMS usually begin with nausea, vomiting, appetite loss, fever, hives
  3. and joint pains. Other symptoms may occur after 3 to 10 days. These symptoms
  4. are enlarged, tender liver, jaundice, dark urine and enlarged spleen.
  5. CAUSES. Virus type A is spread from person to person via fecally
  6. contaminated food and water. Type B virus is spread via contaminated
  7. hypodermic needles and transfusion of contaminated blood or blood products.
  8. TREATMENT. Acute hepatitis usually clears itself within 6 to 12 weeks
  9. .Special treatment should not be required.
